The human body has difficulty assimilating calcium.
Thus, a prime consideration when selecting a supplemental source of calcium should be the ability of the body to assimilate this calcium. Until now, many calcium supplements available on the market left much to be desired in this regard. CELTIC-CAL is a unique source of calcium and magnesium with a high level of bioavailability, and of other trace minerals that facilitate the assimilation of these two minerals. The balanced combination of maerl, standardized tabashir bamboo extract, nettle and Norwegian kelp in CELTIC-CAL interact synergistically. Lithothame is the main ingredient in CELTIC-CAL, which is high in minerals.
The skeleton of Maerl, small red seaweed, which is found in Brittany, has a 95%-99% mineral content. It provides minerals - mainly calcium carbonate and magnesium carbonate - in a natural ratio (10:1), which
optimizes their assimilation. Of all sources of calcium, it is lithothame that has the lowest lead content. Indeed, it is seaweed of exceptional purity. It has a high level of bioavailability - dissolving rapidly in solutions with a pH of less than 5.0 - and a porosity with a large ionic exchange surface (over 9.43 m2 per gram). Calcium derived from this source exhibits practically no sedimentation after dispersion. In addition to its high levels of calcium, lithothame contains many other minerals (magnesium, iron and several trace minerals) that augment its buffering capacity and, therefore, its ability to maintain acidobasic balance in the body.
Tabashir bamboo standardized extract from India contains 70% silica which is 10 times more silica than that provided by standardized horsetail extract. Several large mammals such as the panda and the elephant consume a lot of bamboo; as a result, their skeletons are very strong and highly resilient! Silica, a trace mineral, is required in the synthesis of collagen. It therefore has a direct impact on the health of bones and connective tissue. Since the body needs to maintain a silica reserve level of 20 mg, adequate supplements of silica may improve the health of the skin, nails and hair. Silica maximizes calcium assimilation in bones, even when diet is calcium deficient.
Collagen cannot form without silica; but without collagen, the minerals that form hydroxyapatite (calcium, magnesium, phosphorus and other trace minerals) have no matrix to which they can bind.Adequate consumption of bioavailable silica is therefore essential.
